Glory Days Are Here Again!!!!

OMG!!! I am so excited about our President Elect! As expected, I was glued to the tv last night.

My dad called and wanted to know how the local elections were coming so I had to send him updates via text. Billy and I were on the phone when the networks called Obama as President. So exciting. I asked Billy if it was ok for me to go to bed. He said to wait for the concession speech. I did and when I woke up this morning Obama was still our future President!!! How cool is that?

People were calling up until midnight last night. I think everyone was just as excited for the election as they were for the World Series.

I was so proud of America last night. People are finally starting to wake up and take note of what is going on around them.

God Bless America!

It's the most wonderful time of the year...

Happy Election Day! I swear I think I look forward to this day more than any other.

Regardless of who you are voting for, I hope you go out and vote today. Well, I'd prefer that you vote for my candidate, but I suppose I'd be happy if you just go vote!

I don't know about you, but I will be glued to the tv tonight. The past two presidential elections I went to bed thinking the winner was clearly identified only to wake up the next morning with a President America didn't elect!!! What's up with that?!

Funny how you can forget about aspirations...

So, Thursday night Steph and I went to McFadden's for our Temple Season Ticket Holder Kickoff Party. I had totally forgotten about my dream to become a Temple Owl Dancer!!! I am so excited now that my dream is renewed. I was in total admiration of the young fit girls as they were shaking their groove thangs! I am so ready to drop it like it's hot!

The weekend...

I had a very busy weekend! My friend Melissa and I tore up South Jersey Friday night! First we met my sister and Gina out then we continued on. Had tons of fun and broke lots of hearts. ;)

Saturday I went to the Manayunk Arts Festival with Kelly from work. I always like going to the festival. Bought a couple of gifts and even a couple of things for me. Had lunch at a cool Irish bar too. Saturday night I went to dinner with my brother and his fiancee and my sister and Gina. Then I went to a friend's. ;)

Sunday I ran some errands, did laundry and ironed. I also had dinner at my aunt's house because it was my cousin Caroline's birthday. She is just the sweetest girl and I can't believe she's 12! She promptly reminded me that I was only 28 when we went to China to get her!!! That was a little depressing.

Needless to say, I'm very tired this morning. Glad it's only a 4 day week!

I had the BEST Monday EVER!!!

I’m typically not a big fan of Mondays, however, yesterday was pretty awesome. I have been sick for a while with a kidney infection and yesterday was the first day I actually felt a little better and didn’t have a fever. Of course, I worked through the whole illness because I just started the new job, so I really didn’t want to call out sick so soon, which basically prolonged the illness. Then, yesterday afternoon I get a text msg. from my friend Natty that she was coming to visit and she would be at my house by the time I got home from work. I used to see her almost daily when I lived in PA, but recently I haven’t seen her nearly as much as I’d like. So, it was a nice surprise that she decided to pick up and visit. Shortly after that, Gina sent a text saying she was taking care of dinner and ordered pizzas. Nice! Once I got home, my sister told me that our other friend Melissa was also coming over. So, it turned out to be a great night. Of course, Gracie was entertaining as usual and loved the new audience. Besides that, Natty brought over nail polish and gave Gracie a “tropical” manicure of pink nails with yellow tips!!!

Then to top everything off…I come into work this morning to an email from my BFF Steph who’s in Spain for 3 weeks! I’m so excited for her and it was great to hear from her!!! I can’t wait for her to get back!

I’m going to try to be a better blogger. I really want to be. Sometimes life just gets in the way.

I finally got a J.O.B.!!!

I'm so excited. I had a second interview today and she told me that she would be making a formal offer this afternoon! Woohoo!!! I'll be starting on Monday! And working in Center City, which I love!!! I'll be recruiting again, so I'm sure I'll have lots of stories to share.

The weekend...

Spent Friday finishing up my craft room. I love it!!! Will post pics soon. Spent Saturday at MLPA cropping. It felt so good to be working on stuff again and seeing friends that I haven't seen in a while. Many laughs!!! Sunday, Steph and I took a sewing class at Spool on South St. We are making a tote and I picked out the cutest Amy Butler fabric. Will post pics when its done. I've always wanted to learn how to sew because my Grandmother and her sisters were seamstresses and I never learned how to sew!!! Terrible, I know. Spent the rest of the day at home with the fam. Then Krissy and I started to get our drink on and got drunky enough for me to break out the rollerblades and have Krissy pull me around the neighborhood on a scooter! I nearly peed my pants!!! It was insane!

It's been a week since I blogged!!!

Holy cow! Time flies! I'll give a real brief recap to catch myself up...

Friday: met Rollie at IKEA so I could get the much coveted Expedit bookshelf! So excited!!! Went for drinks with Krissy and G on Friday night.

Saturday: G helped me put the bookcase together in just an hours time! Then I started the task of finally unpacking my scrap supplies...still not done. :(

Sunday: Celebrated our parents 40th wedding anniversary. We all went to dinner and had so much fun.

Monday: spent the day with a "friend" helping him pick out electrical supplies for his basement redo. Poor thing was like a deer in headlights at Lowes. hehehe

Tuesday - Thursday: worked with G painting houses! Extremely hard work and every single muscle in my body hurts, but it was lots of fun. Especially when I was on top of the ladder dancing and singing into the brush!

TODAY: Staying home and continuing to unpack my supplies. Big crop tomorrow at MLPA. Looking forward to seeing some old friends.

Thursday Art

Doing a weekly challenge with Steph, Beth and Chrissy. This is just a small canvas with acrylic paint and pencil crayons. I'm going to hang it in my bathroom as a daily reminder to breathe.

The first nice Saturday we had I told Gina to pack the kids up cause we were heading down the shore for the day!!! We had so much fun and it was so good to be on the beach. The kids acted like it was the first time they had ever been to the beach...too funny! They ran around, played in the sand and splashed in the water...okay, so I did too!

Seriously, I think the best part of being back in Jersey is quick access to the beach!

We took the kids out to lunch after the beach and there was a man there that Gracie totally thought was Santa. The waitress told him and he asked her to get their names. When he was down eating he came over to the table to say hi to them! They both just about died! It was hilarious!!!

Totally...

loving this weather!!! OMG! It is so beautiful here in sunny NJ! I have been walking/running everyday and yesterday I even challenged the neighborhood kids in a game of P I G! Guess who was competitive and didn't let any of the kids take do overs!!! I am truly awful!!!

Last night my brother and his new fiancee came over for dinner. So happy to be adding another sister to my life! And excited to have some goodness to focus on.

I bought playing cards today and plan on making some little art...ala Kal! I'll even post them as I make them...that will be a first.

Inspired!

I am so totally inspired from my weekend in North Carolina! I needed this trip so badly. I've been in a funk in so many ways, but especially with my creativity. I think this weekend changed that! I can't wait to get my room set up so that I can start creating freely again.

I loved every single class...even the one I cut! I honestly took something away from each class that I know I will use going forward.

I had fun with old friends (Steph, Rollie and PattiE) and fun with some new friends! Shouts out to BETH and Chrissy...loved you guys! It was fun seeing Donna & Ali again and meeting some of the other people I admire...Kal, Claudine, Heather, etc.

So its been a while...

I know, I know! I am officially a Jersey girl again. Trying to get settled in my new environment and have tons of unpacking to do. UGGHH! Charlie seems to be settling in just fine. It's nice coming home to people again and we make a point to have dinner as a family. I love having Gracie and Aidan around...so much. Some of my PA friends have already come to visit. Yeah!

Just got back from a weekend scrap event in VA. Steph and I made a pit stop in Georgetown to have lunch and do some shopping on our way down. Fun time!

I know I've been off the radar for a while but I'm back in the saddle again!

Goodbye 2007!

I am so looking forward to this year being over! It wasn't one of my best to say the least. I haven't ironed out my plans for this evening, but I will be celebrating the end of this year. I'm looking forward to 2008 and the new things it will be offering me...new home, new job, possibly a new relationship. Who knows?!

Going back to Cali

I keep singing that song by LL Cool J because I'm moving back to NJ in January. I'm going to be living with my sister, her roommate Gina and her kids Aidan and Gracie. It will be quite a change for me. I'm happy to be moving closer to my family, but I'm sad to be leaving my home of 8 years. I have known for a few weeks now, but having even begun to pack. It's kinda hard looking at your things knowing some will be packed away for quite some time and others will have a new home. I'm going to miss my PA life and friends. But, I'm looking forward to a fresh start in NJ and for 2008. I guess I'm feeling a little overwhelmed by the whole thing and this will be the first time I'm moving by myself. As always, I guess I'll get by with a little help from my friends.

Steph and I have been friends for several years now, but in the past 2 she's been a huge source of strength for me. In fact, she's kinda gotten the crappy end of the bargain having to deal with me and all the drama.

No matter how crappy I'm feeling she can make me laugh like no one else. She gets me. She knows the good, bad and ugly and loves me anyway.

And, she is an amazing mother. She has a great son the she raised on her own and she has a lot to be proud of.

I'm so lucky to have her in my life.

This is what 39 looks like...

Today I turned 39! Take a good long look because this is the last birthday I will be celebrating. I already had breakfast made for me by my neighbor, been taken to a fabulous lunch by a dear friend and had a kiss ass martini. Tonight I'm going out for champagne and tomorrow I'm partying with my peeps. Thanks to all of you who have sent cards, called, texted, emailed, etc. I am so incredibly blessed with an amazing family and group of friends. I truly could not have gotten through this past year without you. I am determined to make this a good year. I finally feel like I am finding myself. I'm sad that some things have ended and happy for some things to be beginning.

Now on to the long recap. Most of you know by now that Selma was put to sleep without my consent or knowledge. She died alone and it broke my heart. I do have her ashes so she is back with me. I just wish I could have said goodbye.
